In the digital era, ensuring security and reliability in the transfer of digital assets is fundamental for economic growth and innovation. In this regard, the University of Salamanca and the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE) have established a strategic agreement for the development of the CSDT project, a cybersecure platform for the exchange of digital tokens based on low-energy distributed ledger technologies.
The Cyber Secure Digital Token Platform (CSDT) is a response to the growing demand for secure and efficient solutions for the exchange of digital tokens, such as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and crypto-assets. The platform is based on distributed ledger technologies, such as blockchain and directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), which offer greater security, scalability and efficiency compared to traditional solutions.
The collaboration between the University of Salamanca and INCIBE is fundamental for the success of the project. The University of Salamanca brings its experience in research and development in the field of cybersecurity and distributed ledger technologies, while INCIBE provides its expertise in cybersecurity and its ability to drive innovation in the sector. This collaboration will enable the development of a platform that meets the highest standards of security and reliability.
The main objective of the CSDT project is to develop a digital token exchange platform that is scalable, efficient and secure. In addition, it seeks to explore new possibilities in the digital economy based on blockchain and DAGs, and to promote innovation in the cybersecurity sector. It will follow a methodology characterised by its focus on action and change, and its ability to involve stakeholders in the research process. The research will be developed through five phases: diagnosis, literature review, solution, evaluation and results.
The agreement also includes the transfer of knowledge and the training of professionals in areas related to the use of blockchain and cybersecurity. Through educational programmes, specialised courses and outreach events, the development of talent and the continuous updating of these digital competences is encouraged.
We believe that CSDT will have a significant impact on the cybersecurity sector and the digital economy because the platform will enable companies and organisations to transfer digital assets in a secure and efficient manner, driving innovation and economic growth. It will also contribute to the creation of an innovation ecosystem centred around cybersecurity and distributed ledger technologies.
This initiative is within the framework of the EU-funded Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Next Generation), the Spanish Government's roadmap for the modernisation of the Spanish economy, the revival of economic growth and job creation, for strong, inclusive and resilient economic recovery after the COVID-19 crisis, and for the challenges of the next decade.
